Griffiths have successfully transitioned its existing health and safety management system from OHSAS 18001 to ISO 45001 – the most up-to-date occupational health and safety standard.
ISO 45001 was designed to act as a driver and a reminder that it is everyone’s job to support and protect a safe and healthy workplace. This includes taking action to ensure that everything we do continues to be safe and healthy.
The new standard places 13 explicit requirements on senior management. This means health and safety has to be integrated throughout the business and as such, is no longer acceptable for it to be a stand-alone function.
Head of SHEQ Jason Moore said:
Caring for our people is of paramount importance to us. ISO 45001 provides a process-based approach to risk management which will help us embed our Safety-First culture in which our employees take an active role in developing, implementing and improving our health and safety performance.
