We have a fantastic opportunity for a Mechanical Maintenance Fitter to be based at our main workshop in Abergavenny, South Wales. This role is commutable from some of the following locations – Abergavenny, Blaenavon, Abertillery, Ebbw Vale, Tredegar, Crickhowell, Usk, Griffithstown, Cwmbran, Pontypool, Newport, Merthyr Tydfil, Monmouth and the surrounding areas.

The role of Mechanical Maintenance Fitter is a DAYS role so you will be required to work Monday – Friday with overtime available to meet with our vehicle maintenance and repair programme.

ROLE RESPONSIBILITY

The Mechanical Maintenance Fitter will work within the plant maintenance team. You will be responsible for undertaking vehicle plant maintenance, repairs and improvements to ensure maximum reliability of all our plant vehicles and ensuring that all our operational teams are able to meet with the business needs – this is a key role within our business.

Your responsibilities will include (not exhaustive):

  • Have a proven track record of mechanical engineering – we are open to applications from candidates who have a recognised engineering qualification and wish to undertake a formal qualification for Plant Vehicle Maintenance
  • Ensuring breakdowns, servicing and maintenance are in accordance with manufacturers recommendations and instructions, taking instruction from; and working with the Workshop Manager and Manufactures to ensure this is carried out
  • Carry out both planned and repair of vehicles, keeping downtime to a minimum with timely and safe adherence to the maintenance plan whilst complying to all relevant statutory legislation and the internal company Safety, Health and Environmental standards
  • Continue to improve vehicle plant performance whilst maintaining safety, maintenance and asset reliability
  • Ensuring that you re-ordering or ordering specialist parts for not only you; but your wider team
  • Have pride in your workplace

You will be required to have a FULL UK manual car driving license with no more than 6 points

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE

The successful applicant in the role of Mechanical Maintenance Fitter will be instrumental in the future development and maintenance of our culture to achieve the benefits available through our continuous improvement strategies. Ideally you will have experience within a similar heavy engineering industry, but we are open to promoting training if you have an apprenticeship in an engineering discipline.

Mechanical Maintenance Fitter – Qualifications/Requirements/Capabilities:

  • ESSENTIAL – Apprentice Trained in a mechanical engineering discipline
  • ESSENTIAL – Experience of working as a mechanical fitter/technician in an engineering
  • ESSENTIAL – Full UK manual car driving licence with no more than 6 points
  • Apprentice trained in Vehicle Plant Maintenance would prove highly beneficial; although not essential
  • Experience in Vehicle Plant Maintenance would prove highly beneficial; although not essential
  • Experience of operating a number of plant categories would prove highly beneficial; although not essential
